Aegean Airlines international passenger traffic during the period June - July 2014

Aegean’s international passenger traffic had a significant increase of 11% at the airport of Thessaloniki in the period of June-July 2014, reaching a number of 159,945 passengers from 144,288 in the same period in 2013.

This increase in traffic is mainly the result of the expansion of Thessaloniki’s international network by including new destinations.

In 2014 Aegean has connected Thessaloniki to 16 international destinations, thus making a significant contribution to increasing tourist traffic in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece in general. In particular, thanks to Aegean, Thessaloniki is connected throughout the summer season to 8 German cities (Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Cologne, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), Larnaca, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, and to traditional destinations such as Paris and Brussels. Also, for the first time the city of Thessaloniki is connected to three Russian destinations (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov).

Aegean’s international passenger traffic had a significant increase of 30% at the airports of Heraklion and Chania in the period of June – July 2014, reaching 196,572 passengers compared to 151,463 in the same period last year.

This increase in traffic is mainly the result of the company’s outward-looking strategy and decision to enhance the international network of Heraklion and Chania by adding new destinations.

In Heraklion in particular, in the months of June – July the company had a 29% increase in the international market, transporting 177,062 passengers, which amounts to 40,038 more passengers than those transported in the corresponding period in 2013. Similarly, Chania presented an increase of 35% with 19,510 passengers compared to 14,439 in the period of June-July 2013.

This year Aegean has connected Heraklion and Chania to 65 international destinations, thus making a significant contribution to increasing tourist traffic in the region of Crete.

In particular, thanks to Aegean, Heraklion is connected throughout the summer season to 39 destinations, which include traditional tourist markets such as those of France, Germany, England, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Scandinavian countries, as well as rising tourist markets such as those of Russia, Israel and generally of Eastern Europe.

Similarly, the company connects Chania to 27 international destinations, placing particular emphasis on Scandinavian countries.

In regards to the seven-month period from January to July, Aegean’s total international passenger traffic at the airport of Thessaloniki presented an increase of 6%, reaching a number of 426,046 passengers, which are 24,330 more than the total number of passengers in the corresponding period in 2013.

Aegean’s international passenger traffic had a significant increase of 19% on Rhodes in the period of June – July 2014, reaching a number of 96,038 passengers from 80,698 in the same period last year.

This increase in traffic is mainly the result of the expansion of Aegean’s international network from Rhodes, which now includes a total of 32 international destinations, thus making a significant contribution to increasing tourist traffic on Rhodes.

In particular, thanks to Aegean, Rhodes is connected throughout the summer season to significant destinations ranging from traditional tourist markets such as those of Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Scandinavian countries, to the rising markets of Russia, Israel and Eastern Europe in general.

Finally, in regards to the seven-month period from January to July, international passenger traffic presented an increase of 15%, reaching a number of 125,532 passengers, which are 16,015 more than in the corresponding period last year.
