AEI DELIVERS FIRST AERONAVES TSM MD82SF 12 PALLET CONVERSION

MIAMI, FL., — March 6, 2014 — Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI), is pleased to announce that it has delivered the first of two MD82/83SF freighters to Aeronaves TSM based in Saltillo, Coahuila México. The aircraft is a high gross weight MD82SF (MSN 49342) built in 1987 and was converted at Commercial Jet’s Miami facility, which is one of five authorized AEI Conversion Centers worldwide. This is AEI’s 3rd of an anticipated 30+ freighters to be delivered in 2014.

AEI’s MD80SF 12 Pallet Conversion was engineered with maximum payload flexibility in mind. The MD80SF has the ability to either equally load all 12 positions or utilize the higher weight overwing positions, allowing the operator unparalleled flexibility. The MD80SF’s CG is also improved over that of the passenger aircraft through the removal of heavy interior components and the installation of AEI’s optimized conversion structure. When compared to the 737-400F the MD80SF offers comparable volume and payload capability at a much lower direct operating cost per trip. This makes the AEI MD80SF the most economic narrow body freighter currently available on the market today.

Mr. Robert T. Convey, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for AEI stated that “The entire AEI team is extremely proud to deliver the first of two MD80SF’s to Aeronaves TSM in support of their growing operations in the Americas.” He adds, “AEI’s MD80SF is proudly providing freight operators the industry’s lowest cost narrow body solution for moving general freight.”

AEI’s MD82SF shall provide Aeronaves TSM with an Ancra CLS capable of carrying:  (12) 88”x108” Containers/pallets, P1 to P12

This unique capability has been designed by AEI to allow the operator to maximize the main deck volume and Payload. When combined with proven reliability of the MD80, the AEI Converted MD82SF will allow TSM to keep their aircraft where they belong “In the air, generating revenue”.
