Aer Lingus Group plc: Traffic Statistics – April 2013

Dublin & London, 7 May 2013: Aer Lingus Group plc (“Aer Lingus”), today announced traffic statistics for the month of April 2013.

Total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, decreased by 2.5% to 868,000 in April 2013 compared to April 2012. The negative variance year on year can be attributed to the timing of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend which fell at the end of March in 2013 but in the first week of April in 2012.

Short haul flown passengers, including Aer Lingus Regional, in April 2013 were 784,000, a decrease of 3.3% on April 2012, while long haul flown passengers in April 2013 were 84,000, an increase of 6.3% on April 2012.

Aer Lingus mainline’s flown passenger load factor in April 2013 decreased by 3.8 points on April 2012 to 68.9%. Short haul flown load factor was 68.7%, a decrease of 2.8 points on April 2012, with capacity decreasing by 3.7%. Long haul flown load factor was 69.3%, a decrease of 5.8 points on April 2012, with capacity increasing by 16.5% on prior year.
