Aer Lingus Group plc: Traffic Statistics – November 2013

Dublin & London, 5 December 2013: Aer Lingus Group plc (“Aer Lingus”), today announced traffic statistics for the month of November 2013.

Total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, decreased by 5.0% to 728,000 in November 2013 compared to November 2012.

Short haul flown passengers, including Aer Lingus Regional, in November 2013 were 647,000, a decrease of 4.7% on November 2012, while long haul flown passengers in November 2013 were 81,000, a decrease of 6.9% on November 2012.

Aer Lingus mainline’s flown passenger load factor in November 2013 decreased by 3.3 points on November 2012 to 73.3%. Short haul flown load factor was 68.6%, a decrease of 1.9 points on November 2012, with capacity decreasing 3.5%. Long haul flown load factor was 80.0%, a decrease of 5.7 points on November 2012, with capacity increasing 0.8% on prior year.

November passenger numbers are in line with our expectations. In our third quarter Interim Management Statement, released on 5 November 2013, we noted the following in our outlook statement:

“We do not expect any improvement in the short haul environment for the rest of 2013 which remains characterised by heavily discounted fare offerings across Europe. The 2013 outlook on long haul remains positive with the exception of some weakness expected in November”.
