Dublin & London, 5 September 2013: Aer Lingus Group plc (“Aer Lingus”), today announced traffic statistics for the month of August 2013.
Total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus Regional operations, increased by 0.9% to 1,126,000 in August 2013 compared to August 2012.
Short haul flown passengers, including Aer Lingus Regional, in August 2013 were 1,005,000, a decrease of 0.8% on August 2012, while long haul flown passengers in August 2013 were 121,000, an increase of 17.5% on August 2012.
Aer Lingus mainline’s flown passenger load factor in August 2013 decreased by 0.7 points on August 2012 to 86.6%. Short haul flown load factor was 82.1%, a decrease of 2.5 points on August 2012, with capacity decreasing by 1.9%. We previously noted in our 2013 first half results outlook statement that good weather conditions in July had somewhat eroded our forward booking profile. The impact of this is reflected in our August short haul figures. Long haul flown load factor was 94.9%, an increase of 1.7 points on August 2012, with capacity increasing by 15.7% on prior year.
