Moscow, 20 February 2015 — JSC Aeroflot («the Company», Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) announces operating results of Aeroflot Group («the Group») and the Company for January 2015.
Operating Highlights
Passenger traffic of Aeroflot Group in January 2015 was 2.7 mln, up 17.7% year-on-year. JSC Aeroflot’s traffic was 1.8 mln in January 2015, up 14.1% year-on-year, respectively.
In January 2015, Group revenue passenger kilometres («RPKs») rose by 10.5% year-on-year, while the Company posted 14.0% year-on-year RPK growth. The Group and the Company delivered increases in available seat kilometres («ASKs») of 10.3% and 13.8% respectively.
On domestic routes, Group traffic and RPKs increased 43.6% and 37.9% year-on-year respectively in January 2015, mainly driven by increased flight frequencies and carrying capacities on high-demand routes. JSC Aeroflot’s domestic passenger traffic was up by 21.7%, while RPKs increased 17.3% year-on-year in January 2015.
On international routes, Group traffic and RPKs decreased 3.2% and 2.6% year-on-year in January 2015. This was mainly due to a decline in traffic and RPKs in the charter flight segment, as well as lower frequency of flights on Ukrainian routes. JSC Aeroflot’s international passenger traffic was up 8.8% year-on-year, while RPKs increased 12.5% year-on-year in January 2015.
Seat load factor of the Group and the Company in January 2015 increased by 0.1 percentage points (pps) year-on-year to 72.5% and by 0.2 pps year-on-year to 73.4% respectively.
Fleet Update
During the January 2015, Aeroflot Group expanded its fleet with one Boeing 737-800 and one Airbus A319. In the same period, two Boeing 737-800s exited the Group fleet and were returned in advance to the lessor.
During the January 2015 JCS Aeroflot expanded its fleet with one Boeing 737-800.
