Aerolineas Argentinas buys new Airbus A-330 aircrafts for its international routes

Aerolíneas Argentinas and Airbus have agreed an “Understanding Memorandum” for the purchase of four A-330/200 aircrafts that will add to the fleet of wide range of the Company.

The engagement between Aerolíneas Argentinas and the European aircrafts manufacturer has been signed today by the President of the Company, Mr. Mariano Recalde and by the Airbus Executive Vice President for Latin America and The Caribbean, Mr. Rafael Alonso.

The fulfillment of this agreement of purchase, framed by the “Renewal of Fleet Plan”, determines the direction set by the National State for the development and capitalization of the flagship airline that until 2008, under the private administration, it only had twenty operating aircrafts and today it has sixty one airplanes which operate in national, regional and international routes.

On the other hand, the agreement consolidates the uniformity of the Airbus, airplanes, with its A-330 and 340 models for the international operations and permits to improve the cost/benefits equation due to the fact that the new aircrafts permit to reduce costs, fundamentally in fuel saving.

Precisely, with respect to the costs of fuel by flight, these airplanes will permit a reduction of them about a 13.5% in relation to the A340-200 and about the 19.5% with respect to the A340-300.

The incorporation of the four brands A-330/200 will be concreted in the first and second quarter in 2015, with two units and it shall be fulfilled in 2016.

The A-330/200 will have a cabin layout of 24 seats in Business Class and 248 in Economy Class; they will have the “Mood Lighting” system for the interior lighting and possess individual audio and video in all classes.
