MONTREAL, June 6, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ – For the month of May, Air Canada reported a system load factor of 82.2 per cent, versus 82.0 per cent in May 2010, an increase of 0.2 percentage points. System traffic increased 5.0 per cent on a system-wide capacity increase of 4.7 per cent. Air Canada reports traffic results on a system-wide basis, including regional airlines from which Air Canada purchases capacity.
“For the month of May, Air Canada reported a system load factor of 82.2 per cent,” said Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Led by a 13 per cent increase on U.S. transborder routes, we generated greater traffic in all markets with system wide growth of 5 per cent, while overall capacity increased 4.7 per cent through higher utilization of our existing fleet. These strong results reflect Air Canada’s ongoing focus on operating the airline in a disciplined and efficient manner with respect to capacity and asset deployment.
