Air Malta opens new route to Algiers

On the 17th June Air Malta started serving a new scheduled service to Algeria’s capital, Algiers. The Maltese National Airline is operating two weekly flights every Monday and Thursday and expects to carry 6,000 passengers this summer.

Commenting on this new service Philip Saunders, Air Malta’s Chief Commercial Officer said, “This is good news for Malta and Algeria. Our flights will offer much needed connectivity and are expected to facilitate and enhance business opportunities between the two countries.”

With a population exceeding 37 million and an economy based on oil resources, Algeria is a country rich in history. It is the largest country in Africa and is trying hard to regain its reputation as a tourist destination.
