Air Serbia expands codeshare with Etihad Airways to offer Belgrade-Singapore service

Air Serbia, the national airline of Serbia, announced an expansion of its codeshare partnership with its equity partner Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, to offer services between Belgrade and Singapore, via Abu Dhabi, thus expanding its footprint in Asia.

Under the agreement, Air Serbia has placed its “JU” flight code on Etihad Airways’ services between Abu Dhabi and Singapore. Tickets are on sale as of today, 20 January, 2015.

Etihad Airways and Air Serbia already codeshare on services between Belgrade and Abu Dhabi, offering a double daily frequency between the two cities.

In addition to Abu Dhabi and Singapore, the codeshare agreement currently covers eight other popular destinations on the Etihad Airways network: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Kuwait, Bahrain, Colombo and the Seychelles.

Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia said: "The expansion of our codeshare agreement with our equity partner Etihad Airways now offers our guests greater travel choice and flexibility between Belgrade and Singapore, via Abu Dhabi. We are pleased to add Singapore to our broader network, a key centre of commerce, finance and tourism in the Far East.

“Enhancing connectivity and increasing choice for our guests reinforces our strategy to build the region’s leading airline, with a wide network of attractive destinations.”

Located in Southeast Asia, Singapore is one of the world’s major commercial hubs, with the fourth-biggest financial centre and one of the five busiest ports. Approximately 5.4 million people live in Singapore, of which approximately two million are of foreign origin.

Etihad Airways currently operates a daily service between Abu Dhabi and Singapore using an Airbus A332 aircraft.

Air Serbia’s Belgrade-Abu Dhabi route is operated by a two-class Airbus aircraft. In line with the airline’s new livery and modern aircraft, the onboard service proposition has also been refreshed with new menu options, a complimentary bar service and improved inflight entertainment offering more choices for guests flying with Air Serbia.
