Air Tahiti Nui will renovate the interior of its Airbus A340 aircraft by upgrading its seats and IFE system so that by 2013 its customers can enjoy a product offering excellent levels of service and comfort.
The Business class Poerava capacity will be increased to 32 new 160° reclining shell seats, while the coach class Moana capacity will stay unchanged with 264 new light weight seats. A new AVOD system will be installed on all 296 seats of each aircraft.
This IFE system will offer a selection of movies, music, and games that users can enjoy on demand. These enhancements will lighten each aircraft by approximately 3.5 tons representing a total fuel cost saving of 2 million dollars per year for the company.
Ultimately, looking at the horizon of 2018-2020, Air Tahiti Nui will work in the coming years on replacing its A340 fleet with the new generation of long range aircraft which may include the new Boeing 787 or the Airbus 350.
