Riga. Latvian airline airBaltic carried 268,892 passengers in May 2013 in its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, Russia, CIS and the Middle East. During the first five months of 2013, airBaltic transported a total of 1,043,315 passengers.
The airline operated 17,854 flights in the first five months of 2013, or 8% less than in the first five months of 2012 when airBaltic operated 19,382 flights. In May 2013, airBaltic operated 4,179 flights. For summer 2013, airBaltic has introduced six new destinations – Prague (Czech Republic), Heviz-Balaton (Hungary), Olbia (Sardinia, Italy), Rijeka (Croatia), Larnaca (Cyprus), and Malta.
The airline achieved a 1 percentage point improvement of load factor, which represents the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of available seats, to 71% in May 2013, comparing with the same month in 2012.
The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 85.2% in May 2013. This means that 85 of every 100 airBaltic flights in May departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.
