airberlin: Increased capacity utilization in September 2012

airberlin increased its capacity utilization in September 2012 to 85.45 percent, i.e. an increase of 2.6 percentage points over the corresponding month of the previous year. In September 2012, airberlin welcomed 3,537,477 passengers on board, i.e. 4.0 percent less than in the previous year (September 2011: 3,683,519 passengers). Since airberlin reduced capacity by 6.9 percent in the context of the efficiency-increasing program “Shape & Size”, capacity utilization in monthly comparison increased to 85.45 percent (September 2011: 82.85 percent).

In the first nine months of 2012, airberlin increased its capacity utilization by 1.4 percentage points over the previous year. Germany’s second-largest airline company reduced capacity by a total of 6.8 percent in comparison with the previous year, to 32,800,538 seats. At the same time, airberlin transported 26,250,669 passengers, i.e. only 5.1 percent less than in the January to September period of 2011, and thus increased flight capacity utilization to a total of 80.03 percent.
