airberlin: More passengers in April 2014

In April 2014, airberlin welcomed more passengers on board than in the corresponding month of the previous year. In total, the airline company transported 2,551,406 passengers over the past month, i.e. an increase of 2.8 percent (previous year: 2,481,959).

airberlin continued to expand its flights on offer during April, as was the case in the first three months of the year. The available seat kilometers (ASK) increased by 7.9 percent to 4.714 billion. The revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 7.8 percent to 3.9554 billion. Therefore, despite the strong expansion of the flights on offer, capacity utilization stabilized at 83.9 percent (previous year: 84.0 percent). By continuing to expand the flights on offer, airberlin is increasing productivity and obtaining an optimized fleet utilization throughout the year.

During the first months of the year, the number of passengers increased to a total of 8,411,066 (previous year: 8,401,009). The revenue passenger kilometers from January to April increased to 13.486 billion (previous year: 13.215), the available seat kilometers increased to 16.363 billion (previous year: 15.524 billion).
