airberlin strengthens its sales operations

airberlin is enhancing its sales profile and reorganising its Sales Scheduled Services and Sales Touristic Services so that it can target its various sales partners even more accurately.

The start of the year marks airberlin’s combining its tour operator and tourist sales operations under the leadership of Detlef Altmann, SVP Touristic Services. Altmann reports to Paul Gregorowitsch, CCO airberlin.

“The aim of reorganising tourist sales is to achieve long-term and sustained success, to exploit existing synergies and to respond better to the demands of the touristic market,” commented Detlef Altmann. With Beate Kassner, VP Touristic Sales, strengthening the division, airberlin is emphasising its touristic operations as one of the pillars of its strategic orientation. In Detlef Altmann’s division, Kassner is responsible for touristic sales, dynamic packaging tour operators, consolidators and group travel for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Nicola Gregor, VP Tour Operator Sales, also reports to Detlef Altmann.

The second strategic pillar supporting airberlin’s sales is headed by Otto Gergye, SVP Sales Scheduled Services. Gergye also reports to Paul Gregorowitsch, CCO airberlin. In January 2013 Otto Gergye assumed direct responsibility for International Sales. Ines Hoepffner, previously VP Leisure Sales D/A/CH & Non Traditional Sales Channel, took over as VP Sales Online & Direct Channels in Gergye’s team to look after airberlin online sales and sales to online travel agencies, as well as the airberlin Service Centre and airberlin ticket desks. Stefan Magiera, VP Corporate Sales D/A/CH, is responsible for corporate customers and business travel agencies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

“This new structure puts airberlin in an excellent position – also in terms of scheduled sales – for providing an optimum service to sectors that are becoming increasingly important, such as the international market and corporate clients, as well as online and direct channels,” remarked Otto Gergye, SVP Scheduled Services.
