AirBridgeCargo expands cooperation with Lufthansa Systems

Kelsterbach, October 9, 2012 – Lufthansa Systems today announced that the pilots of Russia-based AirBridgeCargo Airlines will soon be receiving their navigation charts electronically on their iPads. The two companies recently signed a five-year contract for Lido/iRoute Manual from Lufthansa Systems. To be able to access highly precise data while its aircraft are on the ground, AirBridgeCargo will also be using the Lido/AMDB database to generate airport charts. Both products provide the airline with comprehensive and current data for smooth flight operations.

“We have been using the network planning and flight operations systems and the paper-based route charts from Lufthansa Systems for several years,” said Dimitri Rokatian, Head of IT-Departement, at AirBridgeCargo. “We were impressed by the high quality of the products and the exemplary customer service offered by Lufthansa Systems. Therefore, the decision to opt for Lido/iRouteManual and Lido/AMDB was the next logical step.”

Lido/iRouteManual for the iPad offers many of the advantages of Lufthansa Systems’ proven and highly successful Lido/eRouteManual electronic navigation chart solution, which has been deployed by numerous airlines worldwide. It gives pilots direct access to the relevant charts including NOTAMs and general text information. Depending on the operating environment and infrastructure of the respective airline, this information can be updated via WLAN or a mobile broadband connection. The Lido/AMDB enables to display own-ship position on highly accurate airport moving maps on the flight deck of the Boeing 747-8. Pilots can use these maps to determine the aircraft’s exact position during ground operations. The airport database describes the physical layout of an airport including the geometry of runways, taxiways and buildings.

For iPads, Lufthansa Systems offers a document viewer app and a Web-based administration system for ground operations in addition to Lido/iRouteManual. The document viewer can be launched easily from within the Lido/iRouteManual application. It provides fast access to documents via user-specific tags, favorites and the table of contents. “We are proud that AirBridgeCargo, one of the world’s leading freight airlines, has decided to deepen its collaboration with Lufthansa Systems. This strengthens our market position in both Russia and Eastern Europe and the global cargo market overall,” commented Marco Cesa, SVP Regional Management Europe at Lufthansa Systems.

AirBridgeCargo is a Russian airline that operates Boeing 747 cargo aircraft. The company was established in 2004 as the Cargo arm of Volga-Dnepr Airlines.
