Miami, March 9, 2011 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 12.4 million passengers in January, up 3.5% from the previous year.
In addition to passengers increasing 3.5%, traffic (RPK) grew 2.8% and capacity (ASK) increased 1.0%. The load factor climbed to 78.8%, 1.4 percentage points higher than in January 2010.
Freight ton kilometers increased 5.9% in January, reaching 306,680 FTKs.
