ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Increases 5.5% in July

Miami (September 5, 2013)- The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 14.7 million passengers in July, up 5.5% from the previous year.

Traffic (RPK) grew 7.1% and capacity (ASK) increased 7.7%, bringing down the load factor to 81.2%, 0.5 percentage points lower than in July 2012.

The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 6.5% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 91.5 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.1%, capacity (ASK) increased 6.0%, and the passenger load factor reached 76.9%, 0.8 percentage points higher than the previous year.

Freight ton kilometers increased 3.1% in July and 2.3% year-to-date.
