Miami, August 15, 2012 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 11.6 million passengers in June, up 9.6% from the previous year.
Traffic (RPK) grew 11.5% and capacity (ASK) increased 8.1%, bringing up the load factor to 76.0%, 2.3 percentage points higher than in June 2011.
The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 5.9% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 71.2 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.9%, capacity (ASK) increased 7.7%, and the passenger load factor reached 75.3%, 0.1 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Freight ton kilometers increased 6.0% in June and 7.9% year-to-date.
