Miami, April 12, 2011 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 10.3 million passengers in February, up 0.1% from the previous year.
In addition to passengers increasing 0.1%, traffic (RPK) grew 1.2% and capacity (ASK) increased 1.5%. The load factor dropped to 74.3%, 0.2 percentage points lower than in February 2010.
The number of passengers carried year-to-date (January to February) increased 1.9% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 22.8 million passengers. During the aforementioned period traffic (RPK) rose 2.1%, capacity (ASK) increased 1.3%, and the passenger load factor reached 76.8%, 0.6 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Freight ton kilometers increased 8.1% in February and 7.0% year to date.
