Anthony Pope is Named Executive Vice President for the Nexcelle Engine Nacelle Joint Venture of GE and Safran

CINCINNATI—(BUSINESS WIRE)—The appointment of Anthony Pope as an Executive Vice President of Nexcelle was announced today by this joint venture of GE’s Middle River Aircraft Systems and the Safran group’s Aircelle, which is developing new-generation jet engine nacelle solutions for integrated propulsion systems.

Pope is a GE employee, and takes on responsibilities in his new role for driving program execution and operations across Nexcelle’s activity, along with executing commercial strategy as the company pursues new airframe applications. In addition, he will work closely with the respective engineering teams at the Aircelle and Middle River Aircraft Systems parent companies in developing multi-generational product and technology roadmaps for the entity.

“We welcome Anthony to Nexcelle management team, and look forward to his expertise as our company further strengthens its position as an industry leader in integrated propulsion systems,” said Nexcelle President Huntley Myrie.

Pope came to GE Aviation in 2006 through the company’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program, and has held roles of increasing responsibility – most recently as Operations Leader for the Fuel and Carbon Solutions business, with global responsibility for commercial operations. He began his aviation industry career at Boeing, and was involved in activities across both its military and commercial divisions.

At Nexcelle, Pope joins the company’s other Executive Vice President – Jean-Christophe Dalla Toffola – who is an Aircelle employee.

Nexcelle was created in 2008, and has been selected to supply the nacelle systems for two major engine programs: the CFM International LEAP-X1C integrated propulsion system on COMAC’s C919 airliner, and the GE Passport 20 engine for Bombardier’s Global 7000 and 8000 business jet aircraft.
