Austrian Airlines: Bernd Hartweger appointed as new head of Product and Marketing

Bernd Hartweger (41) is to take over as Vice President of the Product and Marketing Division of the Austrian Airlines Group. Hartweger takes over from Peter Baumgartner, who left the company in 2012. Hartweger, who is currently still the CEO of paybox Bank, part of the Telekom Austria Group, will take up his new function on 21 May 2013.

Born in Vienna, Bernd Hartweger began his career with Procter & Gamble in Brand Management in 1996, after graduating in Business Studies from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and subsequently from the University of Kentucky. In 1999, he moved to Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage-Gesellschaft, taking up a position there as a Deputy Marketing Manager. In 2000 he was appointed as Marketing Manager at Skandia Versicherung, where he became a member of the Executive Board for Marketing, Sales and Product Development in 2004. He subsequently worked as General Manager Austria and a member of the Executive Board for the International Financial Services Division of the Lloyds Banking Group. Mr Hartweger, who has two children, has been the Chair of the Executive Board and CEO of paybox Bank since 2011.
