Avianca Holdings plans to launch a regional carrier in Colombia

Avianca Holdings plans to launch a regional carrier in Colombia with an initial fleet of 10 aircraft. The new airline, owned by the company, is looking to launch out of Medellin Olaya Herrera airport (EOH), with operations expected to begin in mid 2019.


The airline will not operate as a low-cost carrier.


The move is part of company plans to take all its small planes, bring them out of the operation of Avianca and put them into a separate company.
