LONDON, 31 March 2015 — AviaSolutions, a GE Capital Aviation Services company, today announced it completed a project for the UK Department for International Development (DFID) to arrange air service to the island of St. Helena beginning in 2016. On March 17, DFID announced the appointment of Comair Limited to provide weekly scheduled service between South Africa and St. Helena Airport when it opens in 2016.
AviaSolutions managed the air service procurement process, from soliciting interest and bids from potential airlines via a secure website to negotiating the final contract on behalf of DFID. "This is another example of our aviation-industry expertise helping a client solve a problem, said John Carter, Managing Director of AviaSolutions. “We’re eager to be among the first airline passengers to visit St. Helena next year.”
