AWAS announced today that it has agreed to place one new 737-800 passenger aircraft with Aeroflot in Russia. Aeroflot will use this aircraft to aid in the launch of its Dobrolet low cost carrier division. The aircraft comes from AWAS’ existing new order pipeline.
Marlin Dailey, Chief Commercial Officer AWAS commented on the deal, “Aeroflot is a valued customer and we are very proud that once again they have chosen AWAS to assist them with their expansion plans. The Dobrolet low cost concept shows great promise to complement their successful mainline operation and drive incremental regional air travel.”
This new aircraft will be delivered to the airline in the second half of 2014.
Dobrolet will be based in the Moscow region and is the original name of the joint- stock company established in 1923 which preceded Aeroflot. The fleet of the new airline will consist of new and modern all-Boeing 737-800 aircraft in one class configuration with a planned launch in the spring of 2014. Dobrolet is intended follow the well-established, disciplined low cost model and service the domestic Russian market as well as routes to Eastern Europe, Germany, Italy and the Middle East.
