AWAS announced today that it has delivered on lease to Vietjet, the first of three new A320 aircraft from its new order pipeline. Vietjet is an expanding low cost carrier operating a modern, all-A320 fleet from Vietnam’s three major economic and tourist hubs – Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and Hanoi, and is the first private airline in Vietnam to be licensed to operate domestic and international flights.
Mr. Pritam Singh, Vice President Business Development Vietjet commented, “This is another great day for Vietjet as we are very pleased to accept from AWAS this A320, the first new aircraft to join our growing fleet. And this in fact will be the very first sharklet-equipped A320 to fly in Vietnam. Vietjet has successfully captured a large and loyal share of customers in less than two years, and we look forward to many more days like today, continuing to fuel our further expansion and growth.”
This new sharklet-equipped A320 aircraft will assist Vietjet with their plans to expand into ASEAN and North Asian networks which will include regional destinations such as Busan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Singapore, Taipei Japan, Hongkong and China. The advanced end-of-wing Sharklet system has been developed by Airbus to provide airlines with significant fuel savings along with several higher performance and lower maintenance benefits. Importantly, Sharklets can also save over 730t less CO2 emissions annually per aircraft.
Marlin Dailey, Chief Commercial Officer AWAS commented, “The people of AWAS are very proud today to deliver this first of three planned new A320 aircraft to Vietjet. Their successful LCC model and dedication to quality passenger service is offering many a new, lower cost alternative to enjoy regional air travel for both leisure and business.”
JT Foo, VP Sales Asia Pacific AWAS also commented, “We are so pleased to deliver our first A320 aircraft to Vietjet. It was our team’s pleasure to work with them to identify aircraft with their customised specifications at the right time, to help fuel their further growth.”
