AWAS Delivers First of Two Planned 737-800’s to New Customer: Japanese Airline, Solaseed Air

Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, announced today that it has delivered a Boeing 737-800 passenger aircraft to Solaseed Air, the established Japanese airline formerly known as Skynet Asia Airways. This is the first of two planned 737-800 deliveries from AWAS to Solaseed Air. This aircraft will be the eleventh in their fleet, their first 737NG, as well as the first to have the Boeing Sky interior.

“We are very excited to receive this new 737-800 aircraft from AWAS, the first in our new livery colors with Solaseed branding,” said Masataka Ito, President & CEO. “We are proud to have built a strong and customer-focused airline that recently celebrated our tenth anniversary. This new aircraft, our first 737-800 and first with Sky Interior, will continue to build on that tradition with superior customer service and comfort. It will also help us to enhance efficiencies across our operation. AWAS has worked with us very closely over the past few years as a valued partner to help make this day a reality.”

Solaseed Air operates an all-Boeing 737 fleet and this new aircraft delivered from AWAS marks the start of the airline’s planned fleet renewal program, as well as re-branding. The fresh pistachio green of Solaseed Air’s new livery symbolizes youth, energy, and represents the beautiful, natural landscape of Kyushu, the island of the airline’s headquarters in Miyazaki.

“AWAS are extremely pleased to assist Solaseed Air with their ambitious growth and fleet renewal program. The Solaseed Air concept and brand is dynamic, fresh and exciting.” said Ray Sisson, President & CEO, AWAS. “This 737-800 will well-position Solaseed Air as one of the first airlines in Japan to offer their customers the enhanced aesthetics and comfort of the Boeing Sky Interior.”
