Dublin, 19 January 2011
Dublin based aircraft lessor, AWAS, announced today that it has delivered a new Airbus A320-200 to Frontier Airlines, an operating unit of Republic Airways Holdings, Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. The second and third A320s will be delivered in March and June, respectively.
This first delivery of three planned A320 aircraft from AWAS marks the beginning of a new relationship between Frontier, its parent company Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. and AWAS, one of the largest, most experienced commercial aircraft lessors in the world.
“We are very pleased to be receiving this new Airbus A320 aircraft, which will support our previously announced fleet-optimization plan, and we look forward to a long-term relationship with AWAS,” said Daniel Shurz, vice president of strategy and planning at Frontier. “This aircraft, along with the additional two we will receive this spring from AWAS, will help us to concurrently drive net capacity increases along with unit cost reductions. As a result, Frontier will become even more competitive as we head into the busy spring and summer travel season.”
“AWAS is very excited to add Frontier Airlines as a customer beginning today with this A320 delivery in support of its optimization and expansion plans.” said Doug Winter, Head of Sales, AWAS. “Additionally we are very pleased to recognize that this is the first CFM powered aircraft to deliver from our new order stream. Frontier is a dynamic and growing low cost carrier in North America, and AWAS looks forward to the delivery of a planned additional two A320s, as well as meeting their needs well into the future.”
“It is great to see two CFM customers come together,” said Gael Meheust, Executive vice president, Sales and Marketing for CFM International. “Frontier Airlines has been a long-time CFM56 operator and we are obviously honored by the continued faith they have placed in our products. AWAS is actually one of our newest customers, but we have already built a solid relationship that will continue to strengthen in the years to come.”
