bmi regional launches new route from Bremen to Toulouse

bmi regional, the UK’s most punctual airline, today announced the launch of a brand new route from Bremen, Germany to Toulouse, France. This is the first route to be announced on mainland Europe, continuing the airline’s European network expansion.

Cathal O’Connell, chief executive, bmi regional said: “The launch of this route from Bremen to Toulouse, our first service on the continent, is an indication of our ambition and a significant investment to position the airline for growth outside of the UK. This new route is the perfect addition to the seven new routes we have rolled out since bmi regional established itself as an independent airline in 2012 (Bristol to Aberdeen, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Manchester to Antwerp, Birmingham to Gothenburg, Lyon and Toulouse). bmi regional’s choice of destinations is based on business and leisure customer demand. Toulouse is a significant base for Airbus, as is Bremen. We are proud to be part of the infrastructure linking these two great European cities”.

Non-stop flights from Bremen to Toulouse commence 4th March 2013 with five flights per week.

· Toulouse is the fourth largest city in France, and the capital of the Midi-Pyrénées region, the largest region in France. The city is the centre of the European aerospace industry, hosting the Airbus headquarters and assembly-lines of Airbus A320, A330, A340, and A380. The city also has numerous aeronautics, space, electronics, IT and biotech firms, including Thales, Alenia Space, Intel, ATR and Astrium Satellites. Toulouse is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and Toulouse Rugby, four times winner of the Heineken Cup.

· Bremen is the third most populous city in Northern Germany, and the airport is 3.5km from the city centre – the closest airport to any city centre in Germany. Travelling time from the airport to Bremen’s city centre is 11 minutes. Bremen is home to the 2nd largest Airbus factory in Germany, producing the wings for the wide-body Airbus aircraft. The former Hanseatic league city is where Beck’s beer is brewed, and the ‘Altstadt’ or old town has two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
