Boeing 787 Dreamliner has landed in Warsaw!

Warsaw, June 24th, 2011 – the world’s most technologically advanced passenger airplane – the Boeing 787 Dreamliner – was presented today to the guests of LOT Polish Airlines and The Boeing Company, and to the media. During the event Marcin Piróg, CEO of LOT unveiled the seating configuration and the interior design of the airplanes ordered by LOT, and the refreshed livery that will be seen on the airplanes of the Polish carrier.

Thanks to the close cooperation between LOT and Boeing, the Dreamliner has performed a demonstration flight to Poland. After landing at the Warsaw airport, the Dreamliner was towed near the LOT’s hangar, where guests and representatives of the media could admire the water salute, and then to visit the interior of the Boeing 787.

The name of that plane was not taken out of nowhere – the flight on board of the Dreamliner will be similar to a dream coming true – said Marcin Piróg during the opening of the press conference, that was organized just after the Dreamliner’s landing – We are proud that we will be the first European carrier to offer its passengers completely new quality and comfort of flight.

The Dreamliner is a true breakthrough. The modern construction – with new engines, light composite materials, aerodynamic elements, reduced noise and much more pleasant onboard atmosphere, will allow for a significant improvement of the flight comfort for passengers and will provide airlines with an airplane truly ready for the 21st century.

The 787 is a truly revolutionary airplane and it is an honor to be able to present it here in Warsaw on behalf of the thousands of men and women from around the world who have worked tirelessly to create a great airplane both for our airline customers and their passengers – the traveling public – said Scott Fancher Vice President and General Manager of the 787 Program for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

In the airplanes ordered by PLL LOT there will be three classes: business – with eighteen seats that could be set to a lying position, premium economy – with 21 seats and the economy class with 213 seats. Aircraft interiors with modern audio-video equipment, Internet access, a new delicious menu and specially trained cabin crew will guarantee a completely new standard of travel on the LOT’s long-haul routes.

LOT, being the first European airline to receive the modern B787, has decided to use this opportunity to refresh the livery of its aircrafts. The livery presented during the press conference does not break with the tradition but is rather a project that combines the glorious past of the national carrier with a modern design.

LOT, being a modern company, is not afraid of change, and is aware that modernity is not the negation of the past, but rather a creative and thought through way of connecting elements. This approach can be seen from the project of the refreshed livery. – says Andrzej P?gowski graphic artist and designer, one of the artists and specialist in the area of the creation of the image and brand that presented opinions on the project.

- The presentation of the Dreamliner in Warsaw, was an unforgettable event, both for our company and for the whole aviation sector in Poland. We look forward to next year when our passengers will have the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of the Boeing 787 and the new quality of LOT’s service. – said Marcin Piróg.
