Frankfurt am Main – Condor can now include the German airline Germanwings among its partners. Germanwings provide connecting flights for the new Condor long-haul departure airport Cologne/Bonn (CGN), that is also the home airport of Germanwings. From November 4, 2014, non-stop Condor flights from Cologne/Bonn to Varadero (VRA) on Cuba will be on offer every Tuesday.
Passengers of the long-haul flight departing from Cologne/Bonn will be able to get there from Vienna (VIE), Zurich (ZRH), Milan (MXP) and London Stansted (STN) with Germanwings, with convenient transfer times from German airports Dresden (DRS), Hamburg (HAM), Leipzig/Halle (LEJ) and Berlin Tegel (TXL).
Thanks to this new collaboration, Condor passengers can adopt a more flexible approach to planning their entire journey. There are flights to Varadero from Frankfurt (FRA) on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from Munich (MUC) on Sundays and from Vienna (VIE) on Fridays. With the flight leaving Cologne/Bonn on Tuesday, the length of the vacation can be individually planned to suit personal requirements.
For passengers from Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Dusseldorf, the partnership with Germanwings also opens up a connection to the route network of Thomas Cook Airlines UK which, like Condor, is part of the Thomas Cook Group Airlines. It will then be possible to reach destinations such as Orlando (MCO), Las Vegas (LAS), and from summer 2015, also New York (JFK) and Miami (MIA) in the United States, Saint Lucia (UVF), Jamaica (MBJ), Antigua (ANU) and Barbados (BGI) in the Caribbean, or Cancun (CUN) in Mexico via these cities, with good transfer times.
Ralf Teckentrup, Chairman of the Condor Management Board, welcomes the new partnership. “We are looking forward to November, when we can officially adopt Cologne/Bonn as our third German long-haul departure airport. The partnership with Germanwings will now connect additional German and European airports to the new flight and will achieve one of our most important aims: flexibility and choice for our passengers. The fact that this advantage will also come in useful for Thomas Cook Airlines UK, which like us is part of the Thomas Cook Group Airlines, makes the partnership even more fruitful and valuable.”
This partnership is also an important step for Germanwings. “Thanks to our new collaboration, we can offer our passengers even more choice to help them plan a journey that is geared to their needs”, says Thomas Winkelmann, spokesman for the Germanwings Management Board. “Combining the extensive European route network of Germanwings with Condor long-haul flights to tourist areas allows us to offer our customers an enhanced product.”
