Condor's first flight to Fortaleza

Frankfurt am Main – From today Condor, the leisure carrier, is offering passengers another destination in Brazil. Today at 10:25am, a Boeing 767-300 took off from Frankfurt (FRA), bound for Fortaleza (FOR).

Dr. Jens Boyd, Head of Long-haul at Condor, and Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Regional Director Corporate Development at Fraport AG, bade farewell to passengers at the gate with samba dancers and a themed cake. And those who weren’t quite in a holiday mood after watching the dancers were helped along by the freshly-brewed coffee prepared by a real Brazilian barista. Just before the passengers started to board, Condor’s new destination from Frankfurt was officially opened by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting. On arrival in Brazil, Fortaleza airport will welcome the aircraft with the traditional water “baptism”, and once on the apron the pilots will present the Brazilian and German flags from the cockpit windows in greeting.

Fortaleza is being added to Condor’s program as a year-round destination just in time for the preliminary game between the German team and Ghana, which is taking place in Fortaleza. This means the airline will also be flying there through the winter, always on Fridays. This makes Fortaleza Condor’s third non-stop destination in Brazil in addition to its established destinations of Recife (REC) and Salvador da Bahia (SSA). Whatever the season, it’s quick and easy to get to almost any part of Brazil with connecting flights offered by the airline’s co-operation partner Gol.

“We are delighted to be expanding our long-haul offer in Central and South America. And now, as the World Cup is being held in Brazil, is the perfect time to offer our passengers the opportunity to experience the atmosphere at one of the venues live. But apart from that, Fortaleza is also a lovely and relaxing holiday destination,” explains Jens Boyd, Head of Long-haul at Condor.

Dominique Prümm is also pleased that a further South American destination is being added from Frankfurt: “A new destination has been added to the schedule for those of us here at Frankfurt airport in Fortaleza. We are especially proud that Condor – our second-biggest client – is offering this destination.”

With a population of 2.5 million, Fortaleza is one of Brazil’s biggest and liveliest metropolises. Dutch and Portuguese influences from the founding period can still be seen in the historic part of the city today. And gourmets will be particularly enthralled by the typical cuisine with fish and seafood that is caught just off the coast. Fortaleza is also famous for its relaxed nightlife in bars, clubs and on stages. And for pure pleasure, visitors can head to one of the city’s 15 beaches. With 300 days of sunshine a year and year-round temperatures of between 23 and over 30°C, Fortaleza is always worth a visit.
