06 Dec 2013: Direct Maintenance, the only independent wide body dedicated line maintenance provider of The Netherlands, has started providing line maintenance support to the B787. The Dreamliner is the most sophisticated Boeing aircraft ever produced and the first commercial wide body jet with its primary structure made predominantly out of composite materials. The first support event took place during the inaugural B787 flight of long standing customer Thomson Airways operating into Mombasa, Kenya (MBA) on 3 December 2013. By default Direct Maintenance has now become the first line maintenance provider to support the B787 in Kenya.
According to Roger Meels, Technical Director: “Direct Maintenance is making significant progress moving forward in supporting our esteemed customer airlines, as they take delivery of newer generation aircraft. Following our commencement of A380 line maintenance for Emirates in 2012, the year 2013 has become a real ‘Boeing year’, having added the B747-8 earlier for Cathay Pacific, while Thomson Airways has now become our B787 launching customer. We feel very privileged working closely together with our customer Thomson Airways, offering their passengers the unique experience of flying on board of the Dreamliner, a great way to kick start your holidays in Kenya.”
Thomson Airways was quoted as follows about the line maintenance partnership with Direct Maintenance, which commenced in 2006:
“Direct Maintenance provides Thomson Airways with a complete and professional level of support that not only delivers a prompt and complete service but also reacts swiftly to issues/problems, yet are also pro-active in preventing these and others from occurring. With your assistance Thomson Airways has been able to delight their customers with on time performance. Long may we remain working this closely together.”
