Domestic traffic up by more than 10 percent

In January a total of 3,652,679 passengers travelled to or from one of Avinor’s airports. This is an increase of 8.8 percent compared to the same month last year.

Domestic traffic to and from Avinor’s airports increased by 10.4 percent and international traffic grew by 6.1 percent.

“The high figures are partly due to Easter coinciding with March last year. Travel activity is lower during Easter, and this explains some of the growth in March this year compared to the same month last year,” says Press Chief Sindre Ånonsen.

Avinor’s largest airport, Oslo Airport Gardermoen, experienced growth of 9.3 percent in March compared to the previous year. Stavanger Airport Sola had 10.9 percent, Bergen Airport Flesland 10.3 percent and Trondheim Airport Værnes 9.4 percent.

The regional airports averaged growth of 5.7 percent. At the smallest local airports growth averaged 7.6 percent.

Growth in aircraft movements was 5.3 percent compared to March last year.

So far this year more than 9.6 million passengers have travelled through Avinor’s airports. This is almost 8 percent more than the corresponding period in 2010.
