HERNDON, VA—(Marketwire – Feb 7, 2013) – EADS North America has selected Christine Tovee as its Chief Technology Officer. Tovee will define the company technology priorities, leveraging global EADS Innovation Works labs and partners in the U.S. to apply research and technology to grow the North American business.
“Christine’s comprehensive aerospace engineering background and outstanding performance make her the right person to lead technology development for EADS North America and promote American ingenuity abroad,” said EADS North America’s Chairman and CEO Sean O’Keefe.
An employee of EADS since 2005, Tovee most recently served as chief of staff to the EADS chief technology officer. Tovee joined EADS as a new systems technical manager for Paradigm Secure Communications, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EADS division Astrium. She later served as program director for Ka Band and UAS Services for Astrium.
Prior to EADS, Christine worked at BAE Systems fulfilling several technical and system engineering roles on a diverse group of projects in the United Kingdom and the U.S. These programs included command and control, communications, computing, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance projects, avionics, helicopter flight controls, ground-based air defense and combat systems for ships.
Tovee holds a bachelor’s of applied science degree in engineering science from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also completed graduate courses in the technology and policy program at MIT. As part of her research work, she was on a team that developed an experiment that later flew on the NASA Neurolab Space Shuttle mission.
