Emirates has announced the appointment of an Area Manager in Iraq, to support the airline’s operations in the market.
Raed Al Rahma, a UAE National, will be responsible for overseeing the running of Emirates’ business operations in Iraq, as well as managing sales and service functions for the airline’s passenger, cargo and airport operations.
“Raed has been a valued member of Emirates since 1991. During this time he has held a number of roles that will hold him in good stead for this challenging new role. As Area Manager Iraq, Raed will play a pivotal role in expanding our operations in this strategically important market and I am confident that his wide breadth of experience will see the market thrive,’ said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Gulf, Middle East and Iran.
Having joined Emirates in 1991 Raed was the first UAE National to join Flight Operations as a Management Trainee. He fulfilled several roles within Flight Operations before joining Airport Services as VIP Airport Services Manager, handling all Emirates VIP customers exclusively. Raed holds MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and Bachelor of Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in the U.S.
“As a new destination there is wide scope to further push our presence in Iraq, meeting new customers and implementing fresh innovations to further increase our market share within the country. Having been with Emirates for over 20 years working across various departments I am keen to take on this new challenge," said Raed Al Rahma, Area Manager Iraq.
Raed will be based in Basra, Emirates’ first destination in Iraq. Emirates commenced operations to Iraq on the 2nd February this year with a four weekly service to Basra.
