Fastjet bolsters subsidiary’s board

Low-cost African airline Fastjet (LON:FJET) has appointed four new directors to the board of its subsidiary, Fastjet Airlines.

Fastjet’s chief executive, Ed Winter, and general manager South Africa, Kyle Hayward, are joined on its board by two Tanzanians, Ami Mpungwe and Lawrence Masha, as well as Fastjet’s chief financial officer Angus Saunders, and its chief commercial officer, Richard Bodin.

Mpungwe is a respected diplomat and is deputy chairman of AIM-listed Richland Resources (LON:RLD) and chairman of its subsidiary TanzaniteOne Mining.

Masha, meanwhile, is a prominent lawyer and businessman with strong ties throughout Africa.

“I am delighted we have two such prominent members of the Tanzanian business community joining Fastjet’s Tanzanian board,” said interim chairman and chief executive Ed Winter.

“We look forward to working with them to continue to build our increasingly successful airline.”

He added that the company is employing a growing Tanzanian workforce and is looking to hire another 15 East African pilots.
