Low-cost African airline Fastjet (LON:FJET) has carried its 75,000th passenger a mere two months after its inaugural flight.
To celebrate the milestone, the company identified the name of the 75,000th passenger – Veronica Chuwa – and named one of its aeroplanes after her.
Chuwa also received two free tickets from the airline to commemorate the achievement.
Fastjet’s general manager in Africa, Kyle Haywood, told the Tanzanian press that the company’s ability to record load factors consistently above the 70% level is “testament of the genuine demand for low-cost air travel among Tanzanians.”
Haywood also revealed that the airline plans to add two new routes to its services from March 18: Kilimanjaro-Zanzibar and Kilimanjaro-Mwanza. Flights between these destinations will run on a daily basis, Tanzania’s Daily News reported.
Fastjet said earlier this month that bookings for February were ahead of expectations. Fastjet said there were no cancellations in January and punctuality was an eye-catching 99.7%.
