Fifth Boeing 747-8 Freighter for Cargolux

Luxembourg, 12 September 2012. Cargolux today announced that it has accepted delivery of another Boeing 747-8 freighter. The new aircraft has been registered as LX-VCF – City of Grevenmacher – and is the fifth of this type for Cargolux.

LX-VCF is due for arrival in Luxembourg on Thursday early afternoon.

LX-VCF is the second airplane after LX-VCE that is delivered from Boeing with improved operational weights due to an increase in the maximum takeoff weight by 6 tonnes to 448 tonnes.

After LX-VCF, Cargolux expects one additional 747-8F delivery in 2012 bringing its fleet to six aircraft in service. With the replacement of the 747-400 freighter fleet gaining momentum, Cargolux is honoring its long-standing commitment to lessening its environmental impact, helped by the double-digit improvement in CO2 emissions and 30% noise footprint reduction provided by the 747-8F.
