Finnair has today announced it has reached a definitive agreement with SR Technics on sourcing of engine and component services. Finnair has conducted negotiations with personnel representatives on the personnel implications of this agreement and the negotiations were completed on June 12, 2012.
Sourcing engine and component services from SR Technics will lead into discontinuing Finnair’s own engine operations and making adjustments to Finnair’s component services operations. The personnel reduction need is a maximum of 280 positions, and redundancies will be implemented starting in September.
Finnair’s engine and component services employs approximately 350 employees. Finnair will keep certain parts of engine and component operations as a part of its line maintenance organization to ensure smooth operations.
Finnair supports re-employment of the impacted personnel by offering them an additional support package that includes both monetary compensation and re-employment support.
Finnair is also in talks with a potential buyer on the possible sale of a part of its engine operations.
If the deal is implemented, it would save approximately 75 jobs in engine services. These changes do not impact Finnair’s line maintenance, which continues to be an integral part of Finnair flight operations.
