Finnair: Traffic Performance November 2012

In November, Finnair traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 10.5 per cent as the overall capacity grew 3.6 per cent year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor improved by 4.5 percentage points year‐on‐year and was 73.0 per cent.

Scheduled traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, grew significantly in all scheduled traffic areas. Growth was strongest in Asia and in Europe. Asian traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 15.6 per cent and traffic in Europe increased 12.3 per cent year‐on‐year.

“In November, we saw continuing strong development in our traffic performance,” says Finnair CFO Erno Hildén. “Traffic growth continued to exceed the growth of overall capacity, contributing to the improvement in load factors year-on-year.”

In November, leisure traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres decreased by 7.1 per cent, as capacity decreased by 18.7 per cent year-on-year. The load factor improved by 11.5 percentage points and was 92.5 per cent.

In cargo, traffic measured in revenue tonne kilometres decreased by 4.0 per cent as the overall capacity decreased by 12.8 per cent. The load factor improved by 6.4 percentage points and was 70.3 per cent.

In November, the arrival punctuality was good albeit it declined from last year. In scheduled traffic, 87.4 per cent (91.8 per cent in November 2011) of flights arrived on schedule, 86.7 per cent (91.3 per cent) in all traffic.
