In October, Finnair traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 8.0 per cent as the overall capacity grew 5.4 per cent year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor improved by 1.8 percentage points year‐on‐year and was 75.5 per cent.
Scheduled traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew significantly in all scheduled traffic areas apart from North Atlantic traffic. Growth was strongest in Asia and Europe. Asian traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 9.9 per cent and traffic in Europe increased 8.4 per cent year‐on‐year.
“Strong demand continued in our traffic also in October” says Finnair CFO Erno Hildén. “Traffic growth measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres continued to exceed the growth of overall capacity, contributing to the improvement in load factors year-on-year.”In October, leisure traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 10.2 per cent, as capacity grew by 3.8 per cent year-on-year. The load factor improved by 4.9 percentage points and was 84.3 per cent.
In cargo, traffic measured in revenue tonne kilometres decreased by 3.3 per cent as the overall capacity decreased by 6.6 per cent. The load factor improved by 2.5 percentage points and was 70.8 per cent.
In October, the arrival punctuality was good albeit a slight decline from last year. In scheduled traffic, 90.3 per cent (91.9 per cent in October 2011) of flights arrived on schedule, 89.6 per cent (90.8 per cent) in all traffic.
