In September, Finnair traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 10.6 per cent as the overall capacity grew 2.9 per cent year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor improved by 5.4 percentage points year‐on‐year and was 78.6 per cent.
Traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew significantly in all scheduled traffic areas apart from North Atlantic traffic. Strongest growth was seen in Asia and in Europe. Asian traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 10.4 per cent and traffic in Europe increased 10.3 per cent year‐on‐year.
In July-September, the unit revenue* per available seat kilometre grew by 7.4% year-on-year, and was 6.13 euro cents.
“In September, we saw continuing strong demand in our traffic,” says Finnair CFO Erno Hildén. “Traffic growth notably exceeded the growth of overall capacity, contributing to the improvement in unit revenue year-on-year.”
In September, leisure traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 29.6 per cent, as capacity grew by 17.8 per cent year-on-year. The load factor improved by 8.3 percentage points and was 91.7 per cent.
In cargo, traffic measured in revenue tonne kilometres decreased by 6.9 per cent as the overall capacity decreased by 11.6 per cent. The load factor improved by 3.6 percentage points and was 69.7 per cent.
In September, the arrival punctuality remained excellent and was flat year-on-year. In scheduled traffic, 91.8 per cent (91.9 per cent in September 2011) of flights arrived on schedule, 91.5 per cent (91.2 per cent) in all traffic.
