Finnair Traffic Performance September 2013

In September, Finnair traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres rose by 7.4 per cent and the overall capacity grew 4.0 per cent year‐on‐year. Passenger load factor improved by 2.6 percentage points and was 81.1 per cent.

The capacity in Asian traffic grew by 3.9 per cent and the traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres by 5.7 per cent year‐on‐year.

European traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 13.1 per cent and capacity by 8.1 per cent year-on-year.

In July-September, the passenger unit revenue* per available seat kilometre fell by 7.3% year‐on-year, and was 5.69 euro cents.

“Despite the positive load factor development, unit revenue for the second quarter decreased year‐on‐year, mainly reflecting the weakening of Japanese Yen.” says Finnair CFO Erno Hildén.

Leisure traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres decreased by 5.6 per cent and capacity decreased by 7.0 per cent year-on-year.

In cargo, traffic measured in revenue tonne kilometres grew by 2.0 per cent and the overall capacity grew by 5.7 per cent year-on-year. The load factor was 2.4 percentage points below last year’s level and was 67.3 per cent.

In September, the arrival punctuality of Finnair flights was excellent. In Scheduled traffic, 91.0 per cent of flights arrived on schedule (91.8). Of all traffic, 90.4 per cent (91.5) of flights were on schedule.
