FLYBE ANNOUNCES MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH FOR INBOUND TOURISM TO SOUTH WEST WITH BRAND NEW SUMMER ROUTE TO GERMANY FROM EXETER

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline and the UK’s Number One Domestic carrier, has today announced it will operate a brand new weekly non-stop summer service from Exeter to Düsseldforf currently available for travel between April 23rd and September 24th, 2011 with seats now on sale from £39.99 one way including taxes and charges.

Mike Rutter, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “We pleased to be able to offer affordable travel direct from Exeter into Germany next summer travel. The introduction of this new weekly service to Düsseldorf will certainly open up a convenient gateway from the South West to this important Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region and should have a large underpin of inbound tourism to assist the South West economies in these hard-pressed times.”

Exeter International Airport’s Managing Director Jamie Christon said: “We are delighted that Flybe is to introduce this first ever direct service from Exeter into Germany and its Saturday departure will suit many travellers. The route will also be beneficial to inbound tourism; encouraging and bolstering the industry in the South West. We anticipate that the Dusseldorf link will be very successful and bring thousands of pounds into the local economy.”

Passengers from Exeter now have an extensive choice of 21 summer routes with Flybe on up to 197 flights a week to popular business and leisure destinations across the UK and regional Europe.

“We look forward to the start of this new route,” concludes Mr Rutter, “and, as always, would advise those looking to travel to book early to take advantage of the lowest possible fares.”
