BOGOTA, Colombia—(BUSINESS WIRE)—From January to October 2012, the airlines affiliated with AviancaTaca Holding carried 19,053,076 travelers, a 13.6% increase in the number of passengers carried compared with the same period in 2011 when it carried 16,775,751 travelers.
In October, Avianca, TACA and their subsidiaries carried 1,982,818 passengers, which represents a 12.2% increase in the number of passengers carried compared with the same month in 2011 when they carried 1,766,639 persons. In October, capacity, measured in ASKs (available seat kilometers), recorded an 8.8% increase while the Load Factor (average occupancy of the aircraft) rose to 78.5%.
Domestic markets in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador
The number of passengers carried during the first ten months of 2012 in the domestic markets of Colombia, Peru and Ecuador was 10,965,563 compared to 9,083,937 passengers during the same period in 2011, representing a 20.7% increase in the number of passengers carried. Average capacity grew 22.9% and the Load Factor was 80.3%.
In October 2012, the airlines recorded a 17.4% increase in the number of passengers carried in the domestic markets of Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, increasing from 1,001,261 passengers in 2011 to 1,175,909 passengers in 2012. Capacity increased 16.6% in these domestic markets. Meanwhile, the Load Factor in these markets stood at 79.3%.
International Markets
From January to October 2012, the number of passengers carried in the international markets increased 5.1%, going from 7,691,814 passengers in 2011 to 8,087,513 passengers in 2012. Average capacity grew 8.4% and the Load Factor was 79.3%.
During October, Avianca, TACA and their subsidiaries transported 806,909 passengers on international routes, which represents a 5.4% increase compared with the same month in 2011 when 765,378 passengers were carried. Average capacity grew 7% in the international market and the Load Factor was 78.3%.
