Gulf Air Board of Directors Meet to Discuss Airline’s Performance

Gulf Air’s board of directors held a meeting today at its Muharraq headquarters to discuss the airline’s performance, future growth, the impact of rising fuel costs and increased competition.

During the meeting, the board members also discussed the reinstatement of employees dismissed for their unauthorized absence from work and unanimously passed a resolution to reinstate an additional seventy-nine employees, bringing the total number reinstated to 136.

The resolution was in line with the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa during his speech to mark the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the directives issued by His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa and with support from His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa the Crown Prince. The reinstatement also follows the instructions issued by the Head of the Committee on the Dismissed workers led by the Minister of Labor His Excellency Jameel Humaidan.

The seventy nine employees returning to the airline met the criteria issued by a special review of the committee set up by the Ministry of Labor. The employees will be notified officially starting next week and are expected to return before the end of the month.

The board also discussed the progress of the airline’s turnaround strategy and its plan of action to make it the “airline of choice”. The board members extended their full support to the management to achieve this goal.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Talal Al Zain, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company Chief Executive Officer, and attended by Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, Mr. Lloyd Cromwell Griffiths, Mr. Khalid Omar Al Rumaihi, Mr. Adel Al Maskati, Captain Ebrahim Al Gaoud and Mr. Hazem Janahi.

The meeting was attended by Gulf Air CEO Mr. Samer Majali and members of the executive management of Gulf Air.
