HAECO Group Acquires Maintenance Training Solution for Boeing 787 Fleet

HAECO Group announced today that it has acquired from The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) an advanced, simulation-based maintenance training suite for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The HAECO Group is the first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Organisation and Aircraft Maintenance Training Organisation (AMTO) in China to be equipped with the Boeing 787 training suite.

The suite includes Boeing 787 Desktop Trainer Classroom Solutions, which will be installed at HAECO Xiamen, the HAECO Group’s major Mainland China subsidiary. This acquisition means that HAECO is now fully licensed to provide computer- based Boeing 787 training to its own personnel and to third-party customers, as well as engineering and maintenance support to airlines worldwide operating this aircraft type.

Augustus Tang, HAECO Group’s Chief Executive Officer said: “As a forward- looking business and a trusted partner to our airline customers, one of our goals is to become a world-class AMTO, providing comprehensive technical training services to the very highest industry standards. We will continue to invest in and enhance our technical capabilities and service offering to meet the emerging needs of our airline customers, as well as the Asia Pacific region’s growing demand for qualified aircraft maintenance personnel.”

“With the introduction of the Boeing 787 Classroom, HAECO will be able to bring real aircraft systems data into the classroom,” said Bob Bellitto, Director, Customer Group, Boeing Flight Services. “The technologically advanced classroom allows aircraft engineers to gain knowledge through desktop simulation using tools to solve challenging maintenance exercises and practise their skills virtually.”

The 2014 Boeing Pilot and Technician Outlook, an industry forecast of aviation personnel demand, projects a requirement for 216,000 new commercial airline pilots and 224,000 new technicians in the Asia Pacific region through 2033.
