HK Express Announces Updates to Summer Schedule

Hong Kong, 28 March 2014 – HK Express is pleased to announce updates to their summer flight schedule, including new, more convenient timeslots to Tokyo-Haneda, increases in the number of flights to Osaka, the launch of brand new flights to Fukuoka and the doubling of daily flights to Seoul-Incheon.

As predicted, flights to Japan have proved popular with Hongkongers, with HK Express having flown over 88,000 Guests to-and-from Osaka and Toyko-Haneda. Flights to Japan have enjoyed a load factor of over 80%.

From 30 March 2014 to 25 October 2014, Toyko-Haneda flights will operate a new late night departure from Hong Kong at 23:50, with a morning departure from Tokyo at 6:20. Osaka will now fly 11 times per week, adding flights on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Still on Japan, Fukuoka flights commence from 10 April 2014, and HK Express will be the only low-fare airline operating that route.

“We are thrilled with the performance of our Japan flights. It shows that we were correct in predicting the popularity of Japan and making this region a priority from day one after transforming into a low-cost carrier (LCC),” said Mr. Andrew Cowen, Deputy CEO of HK Express, “We fully anticipate continuing strong sales for the summer season and increasing demand from Japanese customers as well as Hongkongers.’’

Riding on the growing popularity of Korean culture and the recent big hit Korean TV series My Love from the Star, Seoul-Incheon flights have received a warm welcome since being launched. With the first flight departing Sunday, HK Express is pleased to report strong bookings and have introduced a second daily service commencing 11 April 2014 to meet the demand.

“Seoul has proven itself to be a remarkably popular route, with the customer profile split equally between business and leisure travelers, in line with our expectations,’’ said Mr. Cowen, “With the growing popularity of Korean culture and Hong Kong and Seoul’s increasingly close business relationship, we believe the investments we’ve made in our Seoul routes is a sound one.’’
