(Hong Kong, 16 January, 2015) HK Express, Hong Kong’s one-and-only dedicated low-fare airline, today released figures detailing the airline’s exceptional year-on-year growth performance. Among the key highlights was a 127% growth in passenger numbers when compared with year 2013, prior to the airline transformation into a low-cost carrier.
In another significant milestone, HK Express recently received a 7-star safety rating, the highest ranking possible, from airlineratings.com, an independent, industry-respected research group. To achieve this ranking airlines must adhere to strict standards and practices, and must pass a stringent test by IOSA (the IATA Operational Safety Audit), the benchmark for industry safety standards. HK Express also celebrated the number one position among all Hong Kong-based airlines in terms of On-Time Performance (OTP) for 2014, achieving an overall result of 85.1% OTP. Based on this calculation, HK Express was also ranked the number one low-cost carrier in North Asia, according to flightstats.com. On-Time Performance, or OTP, is generated by independent flight monitoring website www.flightstats.com.
HK Express’ Deputy CEO Andrew Cowen was pleased at the performance and recent recognitions, adding the airline will continue its focus of maintaining its safety rating and industry-leading position in Hong Kong for OTP in 2015. “We’re committed to providing our Guests the best on-time service whilst at the same time maintaining our unwavering priority to safety. It’s a true testament to the dedication and hardworking local team we’ve put in place to achieve this enviable goal, against such well-established rivals” Cowen added.
HK Express has recently announced that with Chinese New Year and Easter just around the corner, the airline is adding 18 weekly flights to popular destinations in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Mainland China, offering a wealth of new options to travelers.
